In collaboration with the San Francisco Fleet Week Association and the Tug McGraw Foundation, the Yountville Veterans Home has been invited once again to take part in Fleet Week's 6th Annual Veterans Art Exhibit, October 1-8, 2018 in San Francisco. This exclusive exhibition will be presented in the gallery of The Cannery in Fisherman's Wharf, led by the professional guidance of the prestigious Academy of Art University. In a dedicated gallery space, veteran home artists will have the opportunity to showcase their works as part of a collection entitled “The Art of Healing.” Selected submissions will spotlight how art mediums are used to explore the healing process--whether figuratively, conceptually, literally, or abstractly.
Research shows that our body is remarkable at its ability to heal but equally important is for our psyche to remain healthy as well. Veterans will submit works that exhibit our deep and dual capacity for corporal and emotional renewal, revealing how the restoration of our wellbeing is as much an everyday occurrence as it is an extraordinary one.
Considering the difficult challenges faced by the Yountville Veterans Home this past year, the Fleet Week exhibit presents a timely opportunity for continued healing and hope.
The Tug McGraw Foundation is incredibly proud to support our veteran residents in this year’s exhibition endeavors – helping to manage the submission process and coordinating transportation for artists to the event.
Our Mixed Nutts Team Also to Play a Role at this Year’s San Francisco Fleet Week!
The Mixed Nutts Softball team has also scored an invitation to participate in Fleet Week. On October 4th, the Mixed Nutts will take part in an all-day tournament at Moscone Field in San Francisco, playing alongside First Responders, and members of military.
No doubt, this will go down as a special memory for our Mixed Nutts team and they are thrilled for the opportunity to be a part of Fleet Week!
