year. Applications for the 2007-2008 school year will be accepted
beginning October 2006.

Scholarship Program is to encourage collegiate students to develop
leadership and to embody the enthusiasm and "Ya Gotta Believe"
spirit of Tug McGraw in both their personal and professional lives.
Eligibility requirements for the scholarships are as follows:
- Applicant must be a full-time junior or senior
at an accredited four-year college or university in the United
States.
- Applicant must have a grade point average
of 3.0 or above in the current year and all prior college academic
years.
- Applicant should demonstrate a well-rounded
life and must show a commitment to community service through a
demonstrated history of involvement in community or charitable
activities.
- Applicant cannot be a recipient of a prior
scholarship award from the Foundation.
- Individuals who are related to an officer,
staff person or member of the Foundation's Board of Directors
(or family or spouse of any of the above) are not eligible to
apply.
Essay: Applicants are required to submit an essay,
300-600 words in length, with their application. The essay should
not exceed three typed pages. The essay should relate how Tug McGraw's
famous phrase "Ya Gotta Believe" plays or has played a
role in the applicant's life and how receiving a scholarship from
the Tug McGraw Foundation would help the applicant to carry on this
positive message.
Review and selection of recipients: Applications
will be reviewed and judged by the Foundation's Scholarship Review
Committee and other individuals selected by the Foundation's Board
of Directors. These individuals will have backgrounds as professional
athletes, corporate and nonprofit executives, musicians, and members
of academia.
