Tim McGraw Cleans Out His Closet For His Favorite Causes…Just In Time For Holiday Gifting
QLu Announces Tim McGraw’s Personal Wardrobe Auction on www.myQLu.com Integrated with eBay
(Sept 4, 2007) - St. Louis, - QLu announces today they will be hosting the exclusive auction of Tim McGraw’s personal wardrobe to benefit Tim’s causes of choice: The Tug McGraw Foundation and Neighbor’s Keeper Foundation.
The Tug McGraw Foundation was established by Tug McGraw in 2003 to raise funds to enhance the quality of life of children and adults with brain tumors and their families by stimulating and facilitating research that addresses the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual impact of the disease. Funding will be directed to the Tug McGraw Center for Neuro-Oncology Quality of Life Research at Duke University Medical Center and to other research and medical institutions through a competitive grant program.
The Neighbor's Keeper Foundation provides funding for qualified community charities selected to offer local services to those in need of assistance. Established in 2005, it reflects a commitment to neighbors helping neighbors -- providing needed support to adults and children from all walks of life. The Neighbor's Keeper Foundation accepts private and public funding and is a 501(c)(3) charity founded by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
QLu will present Tim with the tally of donations from his QLu auctions at the annual “Denim & Diamonds Gala: An Evening with Tim McGraw and Friends” on November 2, 2007. This year the event will be hosted in St Louis, Missouri at Grant’s Farm, the ancestral home of the Busch family. Chairwoman of the event and passionate supporter of the Tug McGraw Foundation, Susie Busch-Transou, is also a founding member of QLu.
Tim’s auctions will feature over 140 items from his wardrobe including his Gucci suede jacket, Trunk Willie Nelson and ACDC tees, over 50 of his signature stage cotton ribbed tanks and tees, Calvin Klein and Versace dress shirts and three pair of his worn Nikes,
“Tim and Faith are tireless in their efforts to encourage philanthropy…and their own commitments continue to reinforce their dedication to worthy causes. Their support has been instrumental to the Tug McGraw Foundation and our efforts on behalf of patients with brain tumors,” said Jennifer Brusstar, CEO of the Foundation.
McGraw and his wife Faith Hill were among QLu’s inaugural celebrities, cleaning out their closets for their favorite causes. They have been joined by Dierks Bentley and Ray Benson among others in the fields of sports and entertainment, all choosing the beneficiary of their auctions.
About QLu
QLu, www.myqlu.com went live in March of 2007 with the mission to provide a “go-to” source for celebrities of all entertainment fields to auction their everyday giveaways to benefit their own causes and also bring their fans a healthy way to connect with them. By purchasing a bit of their celebrity’s “stardust”, fans are joining celebrities in their support of significant causes with their unique purchase and literally turning dust into magic. Up to 70% off the top of the sale of each auction goes to the cause designated by each celebrity.
QLu was started by businesswoman and philanthropist, Susie Busch-Transou, who learned her love of philanthropy growing up as a member of the Busch family in St. Louis, Missouri. Busch-Transou now owns and operates the Anheuser-Busch wholesaler in Tallahassee, Florida with her husband. She joined forces with her high school friend, St Louis based interior designer, Cindy Lee to create QLu. They used their old nicknames (“Susie-Q” and “Cindy Lu Who”) to create the quirky and memorable name of QLu for their web based eBay business.
